ITINERARY IN DETAIL
DAY 1 - DENPASAR - CANDIDASA
Arrive this afternoon at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar and be greeted by the private driver and guide. Then, receive a transfer to Candidasa in Karangasem, Bali’s eastern province.
Check in to the seaside resort and enjoy afternoon tea.
Experience the very best of Balinese massage with an hour-long his and hers indulgence package designed to dissolve tension and stress. A choice of aromatics enhances the experience.
Dinner tonight is a set menu is at SeaSalt Restaurant set in a traditional Balinese Bale while floating on a lotus pond.
DAY 2 - CANDIDASA - TENGANAN - CANDIDASA
After enjoying a relaxing breakfast, depart for the Aga Village of Tenganan, home to the Bali Aga people -known as Bali’s original inhabitants. This is an interesting north – south aligned village compound that’s quite different from the usual Balinese style. People here are known for their weaving of traditional ikat patterns and basket weaving.
Then, take a winding two-hour light trek through rice fields, villages and plantations while heading towards Tirta Gangga. Tirta Gangga, which means 'water of the Ganges', is a sacred water palace built in the early twentieth century by the last king of Karangasem. It boasts many decorative ponds and fountains, lush plant life and natural bathing pools.
Note: There is an additional fee for bathing in the pools. Please bring a change of clothes and a towel. Bathers are not permitted; wear shorts and t-shirt instead.
For lunch, enjoy a traditional Megibung feast in a bamboo restaurant with sprawling views across fields and rice terraces at various stages of harvest, depending on the season.
After this lovely experience return to the resort and take some time to freshen up.
Late in the afternoon, transfer to nearby Padang Bai and board the “Paramitha”, a private 15m cruise boat to enjoy a 1.5 hour sunset cruise with unrivalled views of Mount Agung and the colourful Candidasa coastline. You will take a romantic dinner on the upper deck of the boat with the island of Bali as your view.
Return to your hotel in Candidasa.
DAY 3 - CANDIDASA - BESAKIH TEMPLE - KINTAMANI - LOVINA
Enjoy breakfast at hotel before travelling through small villages and picturesque landscapes, en route to one of Bali’s most iconic destinations. Stop along the way for pictures as desired.
Besakih Temple, also known as the ‘Mother Temple’ of Bali is located on the western slopes of Mount Agung, Bali’s highest volcano (2 567 m). In addition to being the largest temple in Bali, it’s also considered to be the most religiously significant on the island. Consequently, it’s a perfect place to get in touch with local traditions and culture. Stop enroute in the village of Sibetan to observe traditional weaving and visit a salak plantation for a taste of Bali’s famed ‘snakeskin’ fruit.
Take lunch at Mahagiri Restaurant; with stunning views of terraced rice fields set against the backdrop of Mount Agung.
Arrive at Kintamani in the afternoon and marvel at its spectacular views over Lake Batur and Mount Batur. Standing at 1,412 metres above sea level, it’s not the tallest volcano in Bali, but it is the most active, having erupted more than twenty times during the last two centuries.
Leaving Kintamani along a winding mountain road, stop at the temple of Pura Puncak Penulisan for amazing 360-degree cloud-shrouded views across the valley – well worth the steep staircase one must ascend to get there. This temple also holds a vast collection of deified king and queen statues from the 10-14th centuries.
Continue to the volcanic-sand beaches of northern Bali, arriving late afternoon.
DAY 4 - LOVINA - FREE DAY
Today is free at leisure. Spend the day exploring the coffee ground-coloured and textured sands of Lovina’s famously beautiful black sand beaches, go snorkelling in the area’s tranquil waters, or head out for some independent exploration. Alternatively, spend some romantic leisure time at the hotel and laze the day away in each other’s company.
DAY 5 - LOVINA - BANJAR HOT SPRINGS - MUNDUK
Take a leisurely breakfast or perhaps one last swim in the ocean before meeting the driver and guide around 12:00. Take lunch in an organic restaurant nestled amongst rice paddies and organic gardens on the shores of the Bali Straits.
After lunch, take a dip in the healing waters of Banjar Hot Springs. These picturesque hot springs, set amidst lush tropical gardens, contain two main pools with warm sulphurous water pouring from the mouths of dragons, or nagas as they are locally known. Afterwards, continue to Munduk, a cool area in central highlands of Bali.
Take afternoon tea with spectacular views across the valley.
Dinner tonight will be a candlelit set menu in a private bale surrounded by water with unhindered views of the skyline.
DAY 6 - MUNDUK - ULUN DANU - JATILUWIH - UBUD
Munduk is the ideal location for outdoor activities due to its lush tropical rainforests, beautiful waterfalls and relatively cool temperatures due to higher elevation (20-25°C). Because of the unique climate and abundance of rainfall, many fruits, vegetables and spices are grown in the area as well -which contributes to its ‘Garden of Eden’ feel.
After breakfast in the morning, start with the tour guide and additional local guide on a pleasant one-hour trekking adventure around Munduk to explore its beautiful coffee plantations. On the way back to the hotel, stop in the village for a local coffee tasting.
Around 10:00, travel south to a vantage point overlooking two superb volcanic lakes: Buyan and Tamblingan. Known locally as the ‘Twin Lakes’, the roadside viewpoint is considered to be one of the best in Bali. Stop for photos and enjoy the scenery before descending to the thriving village of Bedugul. En route, stop at the major water temple of Pura Ulun Danu. Founded in the 17th century, this is perhaps one of the most photographed temples in Bali. Dedicated the goddess of water, the temple features a beautiful thatched Hindu Meru which seems to float on the lake.
Continue to the UNESCO listed rice terraces of Jatiluwih – the oldest and most spectacular in Bali- for lunch in a local restaurant.
Then, travel through the scenic area of Marga to the resort in Ubud, arriving mid-afternoon.
No visit to Bali would be complete without witnessing traditional dance. In the evening, you be treated to an unforgettable performance followed by dinner.
DAY 7 - COOKING CLASS - RUDANA MUSEUM
This morning transferred to central Ubud and meet with a local chef. Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee while receiving a short briefing on the day’s program.
Alongside the local chef, visit a traditional food market to learn about the intricacies of Indonesian regional cuisines and observe the daily trade of exotic fruits, vegetables, herbs and spice which grace Indonesian plates.
Returning to a traditional Balinese kitchen via a tour of the rice paddies, have an opportunity to delve deeper into the techniques of Balinese cooking under the guidance the expert local chef. Here, learn how to prepare Balinese signature dishes, using time-honored techniques and become familiar with the fresh herbs, spices, and other ingredients that make Balinese so food delightfully tasty. Also, experience authentic coconut-oil processing and learn how to make a simple offering.
At noon, sit down and enjoy a delicious self-created lunch.
After lunch, be met by the tour guide and driver and head for a visit to Rudana Art Museum. Here, learn about the symbolism and cosmology of the impressive building and its collection of fine arts on a private walking tour by a resident expert at the museum.
Later in the afternoon there is some time to wander the eclectic streets of Ubud at leisure before transferring back to the resort. Be sure to pick up some local handicrafts and souvenirs!
DAY 8 - UBUD - SEMINYAK
Before breakfast in the morning, enjoy a 60-minute yoga lesson at resort. Then, after breakfast, receive an incredibly relaxing 75-minute couple’s massage treatment.
In the afternoon, check-out and travel to the southern beaches of Bali.
Check-in at the resort for an evening at leisure.
DAY 9 - FREE DAY
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Lounge the day away in each other’s arms while swinging from a hammock at the hotel, walk hand-in-hand along the gorgeous beaches of southern Bali, or catch some rays while relaxing under the warm tropical sun.
DAY 10 - DEPARTURE
Enjoy breakfast at hotel. The rest of the morning is free at leisure until transferring to Denpasar International Airport for the departure flight.
